The last few days have seen very large low pressure systems dumping lots of rain and high winds all over the south of Thailand. It has been the East coast that has been affected the most but Krabi, and Ao Nang have also had flooding. With landsides in some areas of Krabi. The road to the airport was affected but is open. All access to Lanta is fine from Krabi, and Krabi Airport. We have escaped the worst of it fortunately. Another storm is heading this way this afternoon though. But hopefully will be the last of it.
Located on the paradise island of Koh Lanta in the Andaman Sea off Thailand we live and love all watersports. This page gives you up to date info on the conditions here - come and play.

Unusually wet and cool
Well I don't know what has happened with the weather here but it is still wet/ overcast and cool for this time of year. This afternoon to tonight we are expecting wind and wave conditions to pick up with the swell increasing to 5 foot + over the next few days. Looks like it will make great surfing but the sunlovers are not approving! Perhaps someone should do spray tans.

Rainy the next few days
The weather set in last night with steady rain through until this morning. It is still raining lightly but looks like it might clear for the day and then set in again tonight. It is forecast to rain over the next few evenings and will be overcast with some showers during the day.
The ocean swell is building up though. We had some 1 foot waves yesterday and from Saturday there is going to be at least a couple of days of surfing. Yeha. Thats about the only fun thing to do when it is wet.

Afternoon thunderstorms
It seems for the last week that we have great morning weather - clear, sunny and hot. Following this by the afternoon the wind has been changing to onshore with a build up of cloud over the land. This and then accumulated to become an afternoon thundershower by 4-5pm. Then clearing to be fine for the rest of the evening.

Lanta Weather this week
After the massive full moon we have had our biggest tides in months today. There is more push in the swell also with waves forecast for the weekend along with rain. We have experienced thunder showers almost every afternoon this week. But the days have been hot and mostly sunny.
