We are finally having a bit of a monsoon season. Not that it is really wanted. The rainy weather systems we are experiencing are from the tropical depressions coming across from the north. There is much flooding in the north and central Thailand, and we are getting the tail end of it. There has been quiet a bit of wind for the last few days and rain showers. This is expected to continue until at least Friday 30th. The waves are pretty messy with this wind. Hopefully they will clean up when it drops off later in the week.
Located on the paradise island of Koh Lanta in the Andaman Sea off Thailand we live and love all watersports. This page gives you up to date info on the conditions here - come and play.

Beach Garbage Thailand
In the low season trash washing up from the ocean is an ongoing problem, and how to deal with it is something that needs some innovative solutions. At Costa Lanta where we are located the resort cleans the beach on a daily basis. We at Koh Lanta Watersports help in this effort. We believe that if we take the trash out of the water then it is removed, and will not come back on the next tide.
It is unfortunate that other resort don't have this same thinking. In fact many resorts just rake the trash down to be taken with the next tide. It will not solve the problem. The municiple do not have the resources or funding to tackle the problem either. So it is up to tourists to insist their resort cleans their part of the beach and dispose of the garbage by taking it to the dump.
As a visitor consider:
What do the day trip boats do with their trash - do you really need a single use water cup?
Don't pick up shells
Reduce using single use plastic
Reuse what you can
Recycle - many local people make money from collecting recyclable plastics, help them out by recycling.
Please help to keep Lanta clean.

Sunny, hot, perfect
The weather has been hot and perfect. There is some wave swell on the increase from Thursday with what looks to be some good waves by Saturday and Sunday for surfing. This will bring with it some showers and rain, but not forecast to be heavy yet. At the moment the weather has been great for Stand Up Paddle boarding.
